Cats, cats and more cats (photos)

This is Snoop in his "bedroom". I sat this picture here before hanging it - I need to add a hanger thingie to it. And he would sit and stare at it. Then started laying in front of it. I put some old flannel lounge pants Dave doesn't wear down there for him to lay on so now it's Snoop's "bedroom". Although lately he hasn't actually been sleeping there. Maybe I need to wash his bedding. He was sleeping there all the time for awhile.

Growing Cats and Cucumbers

Eb (short for Ebony) seems to have become a permanent part of the porch family. He is the kitten who we heard crying during a storm a long time ago. He's Stubbette's kitten. Stubbette is Stubby's evil twin, or at least that's what I call her. She looks just like Stubby only with a tail. She's probably his half sister. Sorry I don't have a recent picture of her, but she does come and eat here a lot.

Woods & Cats

Last week I realized I had never taken any pictures looking down into the woods behind my house. (Actually what started it was hearing John Anderson's Seminole Wind and he says "And the last time I walked in the swamp, I sat upon a Cypress stump," and i thought "I need a stump to sit on!" and thought of looking for one and then thought about the fact that I have no pictures from the back woods.)

So Sunday afternoon I went back there. The cats followed me, as they always do when I'm out in the yard. So here are pictures of my woods and the cats.

At the end of the yard, there is a lower place that is kind of flat then it goes downhill into the woods. This is taken standing in the low flat part.

I am thinking of making this area a sitting area of some type. Maybe a picnic table, or a couple of chairs. Or a deer blind (I saw one of those on TV the other day and thought that would be perfect for hanging out in the woods and taking pictures of the birds and stuff!!)

Looking to the left.

Looking straight back and down

Toward the right.

Rascal was laying by a tree over to the side of the main yard but when he saw me he had to find out what I was doing.

Roscoe is watching Bobbi walking across the yard.

Bobbi walked across the yard to this tree and then walked down the tree to me, followed by Rascal.

Spare and Rascal wait to see what's going to happen next.

Finally, Hoppy the 3 legged cat hops down to join us. Except he just wanted to bother Bobbi so I had to carry him back up to the porch. Because even though he has only 3 legs and no claws, Bobbi still runs from him when he chases her.

Anniversary of Sophie's death

In memory of Sophia Maria Thompson-Harman
January 1990-November 30, 2003

Thanksgiving weekend of 2003 was the worst Thanksgiving ever for me. That weekend I had to say goodbye to my first "child", Sophie. Putting her down was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I still miss her.

HoppyPod = Buddha

We found out yesterday that HoppyPod the 3-legged cat's real name is Buddha! His real home is up the street, but for some reason he likes to hang out at ours instead.

Free - three adorable black kittens

6-7 months old, all boys. All three very sweet and loving. They are strays and have been outside their whole little lives but I have been handling them and getting them used to people. They desperately need a home before the cold weather sets in! I do not want to take them to the shelter.

They look exactly alike except one has a half tail (part Manx).

I am in the Elkview area but will meet you anywhere in the Charleston area, Chesapeake, Marmet, South Charleston, St. Albans, Sissonville. Will consider going as far as Teays Valley or even Huntington. Or will meet you halfway if you live further.

PLEASE if you know anyone who could give one or more of these kittens a good home, comment or email me at msjamie@charter.net

Cat Update

Miss Bobbi, the mother of the kittens, went to the vet yesterday to be spayed. Now she is holed up in the kitten room alone, hiding under the chest, where she has been since we brought her home yesterday evening. Not good. I hope she is feeling better by this evening so she can go back outside. Poor baby. She is so frightened and has no idea what is going on.

Stubby Update

It has been a pretty routine week. Stubby is now getting along great with Uncle Roscoe and Uncle Snoop. He was a very good choice to bring inside. Junior has been feeling poorly the past few days but seems to be feeling better. I need to do some gardening but it's so humid I hate to be outside for any length of time.
